GetActive was completely server-rendered for increased performance, so no bundle was sent to the browser. I also assisted with development on their core platform/API. Regarding the backend, I was responsible for the ‘mappers’ - the mechanism for how open data from a provider (e.g British Cycling or Fusion Leisure Centres) would come in to our platform. I had to make judgements on the quality of the data provided and feed back to the provider and ask for changes and improvements to be implemented. I then wrote the mapper code and tests to ensure it worked correctly and hooked it up to the platform to get the data flowing in from the endpoint. Technologies used: React.js, ES6, Node.js, Webpack, Docker, AWS Lambda, Jenkins, Sass, Mocha, Chai Show less

In June 2011 I set up a web design agency called 5 Lines Creative with a couple of friends. I completed WordPress websites for around 10 clients during that time. My knowledge of website design and development improved massively over those years; it was a very formative time for me and my future career. Running my own company taught me a lot about administration, organisation, time management and working in a team. Our site was featured in a book published in November 2013 called the Mobile Web… Show more In June 2011 I set up a web design agency called 5 Lines Creative with a couple of friends. London, United Kingdom I joined Lepton in May, after my second year exams at Brunel finished, to help them during the summer on their app. Lepton is an app which helps people give money to their church, replacing older methods like standing orders and cash donations. I did some front-end development for them, helping to improve the User Experience of their app, and improve how they market the app to their customers. I really enjoyed working as part of a small team and have definitely improved my communication skills and knowledge of web and app development. Show less

I specifically worked on the Thomson Local project where I had to design and develop two new websites for Thomson Local which could then be used as templates by Thomson Local, with minimal/no input from Rawnet, so that they could create websites for clients such as plumbers and… Show more During the summer of 2013, I worked as a Junior Web Developer at Rawnet in Ascot.
