I have gained incredible insight into the vast world of bioinformatics and computational genomics from the mentorship of Dr. Glen Borchert at the University of South Alabama. Through the use of the Basic Local Algorithmic Search Tool (BLAST) and publicly available biological sequence data, I help to analyze small non-coding RNAs to better understand the role they play in malignancies and the mechanisms responsible for turning targeted genes on and off.
