      • Nov 2021 - Present

I conduct fundamental research on quantum simulation and technology with neutral atom platforms, such as ultracold gases and Rydberg atoms. I establish novel collaborations with faculty members and postdocs. The focus is on the development of a positive environment of academic professional excellence and a collaborative working environment for educational team members while leveraging gifts for teaching, leading, communication, and mediation to allow open discussions. Moreover, I strategically evaluate the progress of planning objectives and interpret results to ensure continuous improvement and learning. Show less

    • Founder and Leader
      • Jan 2016 - Present

In 2016, I founded this research group of multitalented scientists. I value their respect and trust as their research leader so, in return, I methodically supervised the intensive research activity on atomic, molecular, and optical physics, quantum simulation, and technology in our program. I am also at the forefront of the development of advanced numerical algorithms and software for the simulation of complex quantum systems: Quantum Monte Carlo, variational quantum algorithms, exact diagonalization, machine learning, partial differential equations of multi-component systems while elaborating the novel analytic techniques for the solution of ideal quantum systems. Much of the work we do involves full-scale data processing, visualization, and management of simulations and experiments. To streamline our activities, I expand theory-experiment collaborations integrating in-house algorithm development and analytics with cutting-edge experimental research in quantum simulation and quantum computation with neutral atoms and ions. • Feb 2015 - Present

I design course outlines that set student-focused objectives and prepare based on the evaluation of individual student progress. There are times not everyone will be on the same page. And I understand that having been a student once myself. I just diligently respond to student questions and concerns regarding standards, material, grading, progression, and even the most trivial of questions. They are like family to me, too. As their professor, it brings me much joy to have a lasting impact on their academic journey and later on in life. Show less

    • Deputy Director
      • Sep 2017 - Aug 2019

In a nutshell, I governed the direction and management of day-to-day departmental operations including program coordination for traditional, online, and blended courses while advocating for diversity initiatives. I have seen so much during my career and I leverage these learnings and in-depth experience regarding university student life cycles, diversity, and inclusion. People are compelled to listen to complex topics with an open mind when genuine care for their concerns and needs are felt. I work directly with students and their communities to establish strategies that expand available opportunities, rehabilitate broken connections, transform unfavorable situations, and enhance their educational life-cycle.
