I met Tom at a trade show, where I had my business set up in the new businesses section. Tom showed an interest in my business and we got chatting further about marketing, business promotion and the difficulties of entering the business world as a small start up. After our chat, we exchanged details and Tom encouraged me to contact him if I had any questions. Tom had been so welcoming, helpful and I felt he genuinely wanted to share his knowledge - I felt comfortable take him up on his offer, and I reached out to him for advice. From this one consultation with Tom, I gained more of an understanding and direction in my marketing strategy than I have done from my previous methods of developing my marketing knowledge. Tom offered out-of-the-box style approaches to thinking of my marketing plan, and encouraged me to make a commitment to myself of the tasks I was going to achieve. His suggestions, advice and mentoring style, were all so practical and realistic. It left me with a feeling of rejuvenated inspiration to further my business development.

Tom's generosity in sharing his experience, knowledge and expertise were pivotal in unsticking my business growth. In just an hour of professional coaching Tom outlined a strategy I could easily implement which allowed me to expand my business and leap hurdles that I hadn't even realise were in the way. His creative approach, ability to listen and clearly impart his knowledge was exactly what I needed. It was invaluable assistance for which I am very grateful.

In 2004, my wife Pip and I started running the coffee and pancake stall once a month at the Collingwood Children's Farm Farmers Market. The Farm was losing money, likely to go broke within a year, and as passionate volunteers we wanted to help. The Stall went well that we started running it every weekend. When we asked the Farm whether we might be paid for our time, the Farm offered us a small kitchen and an old veggie garden for lease instead. Over the next few years the Farm Cafe grew from a little coffee cart to one of Melbourne's most beautiful and iconic cafes - serving delicious, wholesome, sustainable food of a high quality.
