Jack Bennetto
I worked with Tomas for a year and a half, while he was an Instructor for the Data Science Immersive (DSI) program at Galvanize in San Francisco and I was Head of Curriculum for the DSI program. Although I didn't supervise him directly, as the technical lead of the program I worked with him and other instructors on our overall direction. Tomas stood out in a couple areas. First, he was among the most team-oriented instructors I've worked with. Teachers are an empathic bunch, figuring out how to connect with students from diverse backgrounds to help them grasp difficult concepts...but they did not always agree on the ideal curriculum. Tomas was willing and eager to listen to ideas, criticize them when appropriate, but avoid any personal agenda to build consensus and deliver results. Beyond that, he was a good data scientist with solid technical and scientific instincts. His suggestions and ideas were insightful and well reasoned, and when he didn't have a contribution he was eager to learn. Although my work with him was on teaching data science, rather than on data-science projects themselves, he showed a clear understanding of the challenges of real-world problems.

Tomas comes with highest recommendations – hire him without any reservations. Of my 5 years working in Web Analytics, Tomas is an ideal analyst who is equally gifted in five important areas. First, he has great business acumen and comes with analytical solutions to loosely defined business problems. Second, his project execution quality and speed are outstanding. On most projects Tomas delivered almost finished draft only after one week of research while we normally plan for 2-3 weeks. Third, he is excellent communicator with experience wringing for a major business publication in the past. Both his slides and verbal delivery are excellent. Forth, Tomas has excellent technical skills starting from advanced Excel, Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics and to SQL, Tableau, Domo and Hadoop just to name a few. Lastly, Tomas very frequently exceeded expectations thanks to his can do attitude and positive outlook. As a person Tomas is positive, actively incorporates feedback from others into his work and well-liked and respected by teammates. We are very fortunate to have Tomas on our team and he is a great fit to any analytics team especially if they are dealing with something complex and challenging.
