The main object of my research was a complex process of amyloid aggregation that is related to the onset and progression of more than 50 human disorders including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and infective prion diseases. Main responsibilities:• Performed protein expression and purification using various chromatography methods.• Performed protein characterisation (Determination of purity, melting temperature (Tm), secondary structure, oligomerisation state etc. ).• Conceived and conducted scientific experiments.• Recorded, analysed and interpreted experimental data.• Presented results during group meetings and personally to the direct supervisor. • Organised group seminars.• Supervised undergraduate and master students. • Prepared images and figures for publications.• Contributed to writing scientific publications.• Carried out routine laboratory maintenance activities (maintained consumables inventory, carried out laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration and cleaning, kept an eye on cleanliness in the laboratory). The main object of my PhD research project is a complex process of amyloid aggregation, which is related to the onset and progression of multiple human disorders including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and infective prion diseases. Main research activities:• Conceptualisation and conduction of scientific experiments.• Cloning, recombinant protein (Amyloid-beta, tau, prion protein) expression and purification.• Characterisation of purified protein.• Monitoring of amyloid aggregation kinetics.• Mechanistic studies of amyloid fibril formation and self-replication. • Sample preparation and analysis via AFM.• Sample preparation and analysis via FTIR.• Sample analysis via DLS.• Assessment of the effects of various factors (e.g. pH, temperature, agitation, the concentration of denaturant, concentration of protein) on amyloid aggregation kinetics, aggregate morphology and secondary structure.• Assessment of effects of the molecule of interest on amyloid aggregation kinetics, aggregate morphology and secondary structure. • Writing of scientific publications.
