Tom was the rare kind of boss who showed respect for your knowledge and intelligience to make decisions. He taught me the actual addage "better to ask permission than forgiveness". He would also have the ability to challenge you to bigger and better ways of thinking- making me always look at a bigger picture than I had realized. I appreciate his mentoring ability in my life. Now I own my own forklift company thanks in good part to his role in my seeing that potential.
