My role within Callmedia is to develop user interfaces and interactions catered towards enhancing the users experience, it is within Callmedia that I have been exposed to the C# programming language and the .Net environment. Working on a number of applications that need to be either created from scratch or have their usability improved are where my duties lie, my specialist area is the web, this allows me to use my HTML, CSS, JavaScript and ASP knowledge to its full extent to create solidly performing web applications for the Callmedia brand.

My role within Ridown Design & Communications was to develop applications and user interfaces for start-up companies that have been invested in by the Ridown Group. Using primarily PHP (Laravel) for back end processing, MySQL for database management and HTML, CSS (SCSS compiled), JavaScript (standard and jQuery) and Vue.JS for front-end capabilities. This role gave me further exposure to MVC frameworks and mobile-first design. Within my job at Clarks I served a large amount of customers, mostly children. I was trained to make sure that children’s shoes fit appropriately and correctly. I was able to refund or exchange any shoes that were brought back within a certain period of time, including whether they were up to standard of return or not. I was also able to accept money for the shoes that I fitted on the children and operate the till, after a year of working for Clarks I then applied to work in the stock room, and succeeded, so I was able to come off the shop floor and experience other rolls within the environment.

I was hired by ManPower to migrate a sub-website within the Defence Intranet of the Ministry of Defence, based within HMS Sultan, Gosport. My role of Web Page Administrator was to take all of the web pages from one section of the Defence Intranet, and move them to another, but due to the difference in Content Management Systems, the content needed to be physically moved from one area to the next, with style changes and problem solving if the new system was unable to successfully support specific complex pages such as web forms that updated a database etc. Within 4 weeks of being in the role, I was elected as the ‘Team Leader’ for my office, due to my experience and knowledge from my university degree and personal experiences in the field.

My role as a GB Demonstrator within the Dyson organisation was very important to the revenue of the company, being on the first line of communication within my local Curry’s store allows me to create the initial rapport with the customers for the company I am representing. My job consisted of explaining to customers the features and benefits of any Dyson product along whilst demonstrating the uses of the features at the same time. Considering it is a target driven environment with regular visits from my team leader, I had a strong amount of responsibility within this role.
