    • Football Data Analyst
      • Jul 2013 - Present

This job consists of 2 main roles. The first is live analysis of football matches. I would record around 1,000 events per game (pass, tackle, shot etc). This information is then passed on live to customers such as the BBC and Sky Sports as well as bookmakers. The nature of the job is such that is it is high paced and high stakes with little room for inaccuracies. As a result the information gathered has to be recorded quickly and accurately. This part of the job also required excellent levels of communication and teamwork as I would work with 1-4 other people, depending on the game. I have covered games in all of the major competitions including the World Cup, European championship, Champions league, Premier league and Serie A. I am highly proficient in this role and consistently achieve the highest grade for my analysis (Platinum grade). The second part of my role is to post match games which have already happened by going through each event within that match and making sure it was all 100% correct. This is done individually with strict deadlines so requires strong time management skills while still maintaining the highest levels of accuracy. Show less

      • Oct 2007 - Jan 2009

Assisted in live broadcasts of football featuring Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and Bradford. This involved editing pieces for broadcasting such as game highlights. This involved the use of software to edit and trim sections of match commentary which would be utilised in news bulletins for BBC Radio Leeds. This required skills of synthesis and an appreciation for the requirements of the listener. This often necessitated taking two hours worth of commentary and editing it down to match highlights. Another key aspect of the role involved call screening for the phone in. This required excellent interpersonal skills where a brief conversation with the caller enabled me to assess their suitability to go on air live as well as quickly gauging their field of interest before relaying this to the host. • Leeds United Ladies Media Team
      • Jul 2006 - Jun 2007

I spent a season at Leeds United Ladies Football Club as their assistant to the press officer. This job correlated well with my degree in Sports Journalism as I was able to apply key skills; such as conducting interviews, structuring match reports for the programme and writing press releases. Eloquent and concise match reports and press releases had to be turned around within hours. When new players were signed part of my role involved interviewing them and would then write a press release for them. This were of particular importance as this was a fledgling club that was trying to increase its sphere of influence and grow its name. Show less
