      As a Chartered Surveyor at Rostons Ltd, I assist the team and directors with farming and rural property matter and valuations . My role within the team includes:● producing compensation claims on behalf of agricultural and commercial land owners and working towards the clients’ satisfaction with regards to their claim● assisting with the undertaking of the greening regulations under the new basic payment scheme,● property management, including landlord and tenant matters ● Assisting with valuations of rural properties for various purposes, including; Probate, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Secured lending purposes or possible sale purposes.In order to help me to adjust to my new role as a Chartered Surveyor I have received training on the in-house management systems and assisting the team at Rostons. I regularly attend local seminars and discussion groups which assist with my general knowledge of farming and a more practical understanding of the industry. This will benefit me when undertaking valuations, tenancy matters and compensation claims, The best part of my job is the diversity of the work I am undertake, and I enjoy the challenge of taking on new work and performing to the best of my ability. In the future I hope to be working closely with new and existing clients, and look forward to helping the Rostons team assist farmers, agricultural landowners and other professionals within the industry

      Before I became Chartered Surveyor at Rostons Ltd I was a Senior Rural Surveyor at MB Estates Plus. During this time I trained to become a RICS Registered Valuer and assisted with the production of Red Book valuations of agricultural and development land.MB Estates plus are a team of Rural Surveyors who undertake estate management throughout Cheshire. My main role within the company was to assist the two Directors with the management of eight rural portfolios in the North West. I oversaw the day to day management of these estates including repairs, tenancy matters, rent reviews and general management of residential, agricultural and rural properties.I was also involved in a number of Contract Farming Agreements for both arable and dairy enterprises. I produced Agricultural Land Quality Reports for those clients wanting to determine the classification and quality of parcels of land, this involved much more than just looking at a classification map and can assist when looking to develop agricultural land.

The management and interpersonal skills I developed during this role helps me in my current role.I developed several useful skills within this role, including questioning techniques, personal profiling and the fundamentals of selling. I was then promoted to farm manager which involved duties such as; overseeing the milking, stock skills, pasture management, medical diagnosis and treatment, breeding management and managing four farm employees daily. The experience gained at this role has helped me in my current role as a Chartered Surveyor at Rostons Ltd, for example I developed good organisational skills and management skills, which is useful at today as I assist with compensation claims, and tenancy matters with clients.

It was my job to assist the Managing Director with the day to day business in regards to national utility schemes for both on and offshore wind-farms, cable routes, and gas storage sites.Several of the skills and the experience gained in this role are transferable to my current role at Rostons Ltd including time management, planning options and working towards your clients goals.
