• Led Government-wide initiative to coordinate environmental data sharing collected by Government and industry to better inform environmental baselines across Australia. • Reviewed and drafted options for Australia’s legislation for offshore mining, the Offshore Minerals Act (1994), the sole piece of legislation regulating offshore mining in the country. • Coordinated the legislated operational review of Australia’s independent offshore petroleum regulator, the National Offshore Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA). • Wrote and supervised Exercise Westwind, a joint Government and industry exercise to test emergency arrangements in the event of a major offshore petroleum incident. The Exercise was the first time the Australian National Plan for Environmental Emergencies had been tested in relation to a petroleum incident and was deemed a huge success by the Australian Minister for Industry.
