In order to utilise an extended period without employment, I achieved a lifelong ambition to tour the USA and Europe. During this 3-month period, I learned a great deal of broader life skills from planning including contingency planning, to budgeting and dynamic risk assessment. I also found the engagement with such varied cultures and people stimulating and enlightening. As a result of industry recession, I was made redundant, so immediately widened my horizons to ensure employment. I secured a customer facing role, responsible for the picking, packing and collection of orders from warehouse stock, and delivery to customers. My responsibilities took me all over the North East, from Dundee to Fraserburgh requiring forward planning and continual contingency planning to ensure time and cost parameters were maintained. Flexibility, prioritisation of orders and time management were crucial within this role. Show less
