With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Hewson has completed a vast array of projects for a wide variety of clients operating in the electric power sector. His work includes comprehensive evaluations of environmental compliance strategies under existing or proposed regulatory structures and policies, as well as full studies examining the effect of future environmental and CO2 regulations on fuel prices, wholesale power prices, emission allowance values and supplier capacity decisions (i.e., build, repower, retire). Mr. Hewson's work is also focused on helping clients understand the rapidly changing renewable energy industry, completing multiple studies on all types of renewable power options, including their costs, performance and relevant policy support/incentives (state and federal). Mr. Hewson's practice publishes EVA's Quarterly Environmental Report, which provides ongoing forecasts of emission trading market prices and insight into the fundamentals driving existing emission trading markets (SO2, seasonal/annual NOx, RGGI and state offset markets). The report also evaluates proposed EPA regulations, as well as a wide range of state legislative multi-pollutant proposals and their potential effect on regional production costs, state GDP and environmental benefits. Mr. Hewson's practice also publishes EVA's Quarterly Renewable Energy Outlook, which provides subscribers with deep insight into the development of multiple renewable energy technologies. The report provides state x state forecasts for wind, solar PV and other renewable energy technologies, as well as REC/SREC price forecasts.

  Responsible for environmental and regulatory analysis. Examined, for governmental and industrial clients, the requirements and associated impacts on current industrial practices of the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Fuel Use Act, Natural Gas Act, Natural Gas Policy Act, Surface Mining and Reclamation Act and Occupational Safety and Health Act. Results of these policy, economic and technical analyses have been used for Congressional hearings, EPA rulemaking, court testimony, industrial policies, administrative hearings and permit negotiations. Developed Federal and state regulatory compliance strategies for the Department of Energy and several industrial clients. On behalf of several clients, he has applied for construction, NPDES, air, solid waste, hazardous waste, water use and land use permits. Responsible for solid waste/hazardous waste management analyses. Evaluations have included analyses of solid waste and hazardous waste treatment/disposal options for the fertilizer, fermentation ethanol, petrochemical, inorganic chemical, electric utility, synthetic fuel, pulp and paper and mineral processing industries.
