I had overall responsibility for a budget in excess of €2.75bn in capital and operational activities during my 10 years as Meath County Manager and led a multi-disciplined staff of over 800.I successfully led the development of County Meath, at a very challenging time, during a period of rapid expansion and also during the downturn in the national economy. I developed an agreed vision and strategic plan for the county and a corporate structure for the council that grew its income stream and reduced capital indebtedness. At the same time I managed to deliver an improved quality of services and many major infrastructural projects to a population that increased from 134,000 to 184,000 during my time as Chief Executive.
