My role was to present seminars to STRS Ohio members to educate them about their benefits. We covered Service Credit, Final Average Salary, Survivor, and Disability benefits. We educated members on choosing the correct Plan of Payment and when to consider a PLOP. - I was promoted to Coordinator of Higher Education - I would educate faculty at all 37 public universities and colleges about their STRS Ohio retirement benefits and how to get the most out of their pension. - I left STRS after becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ so that I could help STRS and OPERS avoid the retirement mistakes I saw so many members making. As an employee of STRS, we were never licensed so we weren't allowed to give members advice, which is still the case.
