At Bedrock Ocean Exploration, I led the outstanding team developing a suite of internal and external apps. These include Mosaic (https://mosaic.bedrockocean.com) , Bedrock's web application for sharing, management, and analysis of seafloor mapping data. It's the modern alternative to shipping hard drives and manually tracking who needs what datasets. On Mosaic, cross-organizational teams can work together on survey data sets by uploading/downloading, building access controls, tracking data provenance and lineage, and tracking the progress of all aspects of the project. They can also visualize and analyze seafloor mapping data - and the data can be from any source, not just Bedrock surveys. Show less

Scoot Science provides data collection, assimilation, presentation, and analysis to large salmon farms. I built the entire software side of the business, overseeing staffing, project management, system architecture, development, and operations of both internal and customer-facing systems. While hiring a team, I led co-development and deployment of several first-of-their-kind historical analysis dashboards to large multinational salmon producers, operationalized proprietary hydrographic forecasts, architected & established a marine data warehouse & ETL framework, integrated with real-time aquaculture sensors, and designed and built the first web-based dashboard for mariculture operations and planning support. Served as one of three technical members of a five person marine environmental software development shop embedded within the University of California. Through grants and contracts, the McClintock Lab does non-profit software development and consulting for a wide variety of governments and conservation organizations. 2011- 2018: Collaboratively designed and developed SeaSketch, an innovative web application for marine spatial planning. Provided customer operational and process support and consulting. Responsible for the feature pipeline all the way from customer need/feedback to implementation and deployment. 2015-2016: Collaboratively designed and built eFins, an iOS app for iPad Mini. This app was part of a pilot program for electronic records gathering by California DFW field officers. 2014- 2017: Adapted, redesigned, and rebuilt the eCatch iOS app for The Nature Conservancy of California. Commercial fishers use this app, running on iPhone, to track gear tows, catch, and bycatch. 2017-2018: Collaboratively developed and operated the Crabgear Recovery webapp for The Nature Conservancy of California. This app allows fishers to report abandoned or lost crabgear via a simple geotagged image emailed from a mobile device. Managers van visualize gear reports, coordinate recoveries, and manage resolved equipment reports. In 2018 over 300 lost crab pots were recovered through this program. Show less

I joined RightScale as the first employee after the three founders. As technical staff, I cooperatively designed and developed website and internal infrastructure using Ruby/Rails and Javascript. During the company launch stages, I consulted with customers on RightGrid application development and developed an application for TC3 Health's fraud analysis on tens of millions of insurance claims using Amazon EC2. RightScale was acquired by Flexera in 2018. Yes, that was my real title. I joined RightScale as the first employee after the three founders. Tech Lead, GoToMeeting 4 & derivative products. Cooperatively led design of an entirely new VoIP platform. Planned development of new platform, working with other tech groups and senior management to schedule development. Coordinated production of architecture and design documentation. Tech Lead, GoToMeeting 3 / GoToWebinar. Building on a successful prototype project, led architecture, design, and development efforts for a fault-tolerant distributed multicast server cluster. This distributed architecture was the key technical hurdle in meeting the GoToWebinar product goal of 1000 simultaneous attendees. Successfully implemented and deployed the distributed platform on time while delivering capability beyond the design goals. Presented Engineering's "Most Valuable Player" award for the project (based on a peer vote). Pursued research project on achieving large scale and fault tolerance by distributing the multicast comm server. Successfully completed the prototype and presented the results to senior management and Engineering. This demonstrated success led the company to pursue GoToWebinar with 1000 attendee capability. Won Engineering's "Purple Cow Award" for exceptional innovation. Completed Citrix's "High Performance Management" course in 2007. Show less
