    • Assistant Geo-Environmental Consultant
      • Jul 2021 - Present

My current role as a Geo-Environmental Consultant involves the design, implementation and management of both geo-environmental and geotechnical ground investigations. This includes liaising with prospective clients to ascertain their needs; identifying the most efficient methods; evaluating all enabling requirements; and subsequently producing quotations and tender returns that are commercially viable but also technically sound in accordance with all applicable guidance. Upon instruction by clients, my role involves the application and refinement of my technical knowledge through the production of various factual and interpretative reports, including Phase I & II, Validation and WM3 reports, as well as the scheduling of laboratory testing. These reports require me to identify and assess the risks associated with various sources, pathways and receptors pertaining to any given site to determine any plausible linkages (e.g. through generic qualitative and ground gas risk assessments), develop conceptual site models and ultimately remedial solutions that are both technically and economically efficient, all underpinned by representative and informed laboratory testing and other lines of evidence. When issuing reports, I work to communicate concisely both within the reports themselves and directly with clients to ensure their understanding as well as the smooth implementation of any recommendations. Given the multi-disciplinary nature of SEC, I often work closely with a plethora of other disciplines, which provides me with a commercial and technical awareness of how my role intersects with the wider industry. This equips me with an insight into the viewpoints of some of our clients and provides a context for their priorities and technical understanding. In turn, I am able to anticipate how they may receive the advice and information provided to them, which ultimately informs how I present, explain and justify any recommendations and technical aspects of these reports. Worked as part of a team at a bespoke, woodland wedding venue in both a client facing and behind the scenes role. My role was varied from serving behind the bar, collecting and washing glasses to ensuring the efficiency of the team, but all work was focussed around delivering excellence by meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations. I also worked during and prior to events, to maintain the high aesthetic and quality standards of the venue to further ensure the efficiency of events and client satisfaction. Show less

I was put forward by my tutors for a two-week placement with the environment advisor at the University of Northampton. Work included creating a presentation for upper management on legislative changes to carbon reporting, updating the legal register, carrying out waste audits of various buildings on campus. I also analysed the university’s waste data resulting in cost savings for the university and was tasked with raising issues found with the waste management company. I also assisted in the day-to-day responsibilities of the environment advisor such as attending an Energy Club meeting and liaising with other members of the Safety, Health & Environment team as well as the wider staff and student body.
