- It Happens Here is a society that raises awareness about sexual assault, violence and harassment and provides support to survivors. - My role involves leading the exco in spearheading activities that raise awareness on sexual assault and providing platforms and resources to assist and support survivors and students - As the president of a previously inactive society, I had to put in the grunt work of blazing a trail and rebuilding the society's activities and rapport without a precedent to follow. I laid out the blue print from scratch for the society, initiated numerous collaborations with other societies such as muay thai society, poetry society and many more (some of which are further mentioned below). - Piloted from scratch an editorial board for the society to submit articles and commentaries to KCL ROAR News and King's Business Review. The editorial board also edits, publishes and submits: 1) policy proposals to KCL Student Union 2) policy proposals pertaining to UK/International Policies 3) academic journal articles; and 4) poetry submissions for survivors and allies. - Lastly, with the help of my committee, we are also piloting a website for the society to include contents from the editorial board, provide support information and campaign highlights.
