I provide customer service and support to roughly 65 troops in nine different communities. I am the main line of communication between my regional volunteers and council, and I am responsible for ensuring each new volunteer receives the necessary training and support. By developing relationships with and between volunteers, my goal is to retain as many Girl Scout troops as possible. I work regularly with my region's Membership Engagement Specialist to strategize and execute recruitment events. I am the lead in designing the Troop Support newsletters that go out to all of our troop leaders each month. My team also plans quarterly volunteer appreciation events. Show less

Supported by the Student Conservation Association and AmeriCorps, during this 6-month internship at Camp Gambill I helped Girl Scouts get outside by creating and leading outdoor programming while helping girls earn badges along the way. I cleaned up the trails at camp, planned and led a couple community service events, and had the pleasure of assisting with recruitment events! Funded by the National Science Foundation, this Research Experience for Undergraduates program gave me the opportunity to work alongside a research mentor to design & conduct a quantitative study investigating the role of self-compassion in friendships, as well as gain knowledge & experience through lectures, discussions, cultural group excursions, & through making connections with my fellow interns. • Jan 2018 - May 2018

As required by my Psychology major, I completed a 4-credit internship at the Office of Alcohol, Drug, & Wellness Education at my university. In this position, I gained experience in event planning, developing program ideas and presenting and collaborating with others to make those ideas come to life. With the help and guidance of my amazing supervisor I was able to plan Arrive Alive, an on-campus event that raises awareness of the dangers of distracted and drunk driving. I've also helped organize the De-Stress Fest, an event designed to relieve some of the negative emotions that come with finals week. Each intern chooses an initiative that they'd like to educate the community on, and while I started out focusing on eating disorders and body image, my ideas transformed into a committee of people that completed random acts of kindness, or RAKs, while encouraging others to pay it forward by passing along a card. As my internship comes to end, I realize how much I've grown in terms of communication and collaboration skills, as well as planning and development skills. Show less

In exchange for credits, I worked with a few other students to help the head of the Neuroscience Department, Dr. Knepp, with his on-going studies. Throughout the semester I ran subjects on three different studies involving neuropsychological and physiological testing. If no participants were signed up to come in during my shift, I split time between analyzing, scoring, and recording data in computer files, as well as searching for journal articles that will serve as useful background literature when the studies are completed and prepared for publishing.
