Master Sergeant / Military Police
-
Jan 1981 - Mar 2006
I have worked as a Military Policeman in the United States Marine Corps since 1981. During that time I served nearly 11 years on active duty and the reminder in the Reserves. Over the course of my career, I have filled nearly every enlisted billet up and including Provost Sergeant. This provided me extensive experience in Military Police operations, EPW control, MSR recon, as well as basic law enforcement functions. I retired in 2006 with the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8). During my most recent mobilization, I was the Security Operations & Protective Services Chief for HQ U.S. Special Operations Command in Tampa, FL. I was hand selected to create, fund, staff and implement a Protective Service Detail for the Commander, USSOCOM. In this position I was responsible for supervising multiple protective services teams on missions throughout the world including high threat locations such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Colombia & Djibouti. While at USSOCOM, I had a secondary duty as the Security Operations Superintendent for USSOCOM’s Security Management Office (SMO). I was directly responsible for overseeing the day-to-day security arrangements for the headquarters compound. This required me to manage the enlisted personnel assigned to the industrial security, personnel security, physical security, and technical security sections. The headquarters also had a joint military and civilian guard forces designed to protect SOCOM personnel and assets which fell under my direct, day-to-day supervision and management. On a previous mobilization I served as the Training Chief for the I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton; overseeing the training for 16,000 Marines and sailors as they prepared for deployment to Afghanistan. I have also completed a successful tour of duty as a Marine Security Guard with the U.S. State Department. My tour included postings at the embassies in New Delhi, India and Santiago, Chile.
