I assisted the ELS and Professor Rebecca Green in a variety of research endeavors. In 2020, those efforts focused largely on the legal challenges surrounding the U.S. Presidential Election. Notably, my piece on Electoral Emergencies was posted on the National Conference of State Legislatures website in spring 2021. Moving forward, my work has involved source pulls for Professor Green’s law review articles in the area of election observation/challengers. My focus was on the relationship between the Judicial and Legislative branches. I assisted Professors Neal Devins and Lawrence Baum (Ohio State) in looking at when the Supreme Court would invalidate laws passed by Congress. The study examined which coalitions on the Court did the invalidating, and who the enacting coalition in Congress appeared to be. My main task involved searching Presidential State of the Union addresses for references to the judiciary and court decisions. The database, which is maintained by the American Presidency Project at the University of California - Santa Barbara, has given me unrivaled access to full and complete transcripts of written reports to Congress, and speeches delivered in person. Each week, I was tasked with creating a report outlining occurrences of cross-branch conflict between the judiciary and executive. This can be derived from the speeches themselves; this also may come from researching law journal databases. My assignments later involved digitally parsing the files of then Associate White House Counsel John Roberts, as part of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library database. Show less

Providing tactical support THON weekend was an essential part of my role. From managing sleep shifts, working in the concessions stands, to giving tours, each of my three committees has aimed to serve the mission of THON in any way that we can. Penn State’s THON benefits the Four Diamonds, an endowment fund for Penn State Children’s Hospital. Providing tactical support THON weekend was an essential part of my role. In consultation with the Penn State Library Special Collections officials, I worked to obtain archival documents relating to the 1960s and 70s at Penn State. I reported my findings to Professor Michael Milligan, who teaches the Penn State History course at Penn State's University Park campus. My in-depth notes are included alongside the digitized archives, and brief memoranda on all of the collections that I have examined. Later, I offered a comprehensive review of potential assignments that could be offered to the students in the Penn State History course. I was also given the high honor of conducting an interview with Mrs. Suzanne Paterno; we discussed her time as a student, wife, and mother over her many decades in State College. Show less

The main focus of my work consisted of an in depth study into the statutes of many states as they related to toxic torts. Primarily, I was charged with pointing out the differences in various jury instructions for cases involving consent. This research became part of a larger proposal to the American Law Institute.
