Glyn Rhonwy will be the first pumped storage scheme to be built in the UK for forty years. Tim had the novel idea of using abandoned quarries as the reservoirs, found a site and secured an option to develop it. Between 2006 and 2010 Tim was the CEO of the Public Interest Research Centre, a think-tank focusing on Energy, Environment and Economic issues. In 2007 he led the ‘Zero Carbon Britain’ report, which inspired the Liberal Democrat Party to adopt the vision as their own and fed into the consultation of the UK's 2008 Climate Change Act. In 2008 PIRC published the Climate Safety Report which prompted a special hearing of the Environmental Audit Committee where Tim gave evidence alongside James Hansen (NASA), government chief scientific advisor, John Beddington, and the chief climate science advisor to DEFRA, Bob Watson. In 2010 Tim convened and chaired a group of 14 government and industry bodies, to fund and guide the Offshore Valuation. From 2004 until the end of 2009 Tim lectured on Energy and Climate Change at the Graduate School for the Environment (University of East London/ Centre for Alternative Technnology) on the Msc. Architecture, Advanced Energy and Environmental Studies course. He led a student think tank tasked with delivering the 30 year update to CAT’s UK-Energy-Blueprint, which was published in 2007 as the “Zero Carbon Britain” report. He lectured on Climate Change, Renewable Energy and monetary systems and led a practical on EROEI (Energy return on energy investment)
