I led a Royal Navy team embedded within a Joint Service organisation, negotiating and developing unified aviation engineering support policies across all three services. I employed clear communication within a broad network of stakeholders, building and sharing an invaluable understanding of service provision in different operating environments. • Head of Flying and Flight Test Process Manager. I assured airworthiness of all production helicopters at a large aircraft repair, overhaul and modification agency employing over 3,500 staff, through operational and technical management of the Helicopter Flight Test Department and also the provision of all aviation support services. I was a production test pilot with senior engineering authorisations and budget accountability, as well as being a member of the management board. • Business Strategic Planner. I developed the Strategic Business Plan for aviation support within the Naval Support Command, publishing quarterly reports, building good inter-departmental relationships, supporting and interfacing with the Ministry of Defence Departmental Plan, and development of Customer Supplier Arrangements. • Other positions included Operational Fleet Management of all fixed wing aircraft for the head of Naval Aviation, including supervision of the update programme for the Sea Harrier fleet; assurance of continued fleet airworthiness at a busy air station, employing over 3,000 personnel and hosting 9 aircraft squadrons, through flight test and Quality Assurance, which included the introducing ISO 9002 principles to the Fleet Air Arm; and Squadron Flying Roles in Sea King Anti Submarine Warfare, Search and Rescue and utility helicopter support roles afloat and ashore.
