  2015 and father of one (+1....), and was recently asked to try something new: lead our Young Adults ministry, the 18 to late 20-somethings. This was an intimidating and stretching decision, but timely. It’s funny how God can use and shape us in unpredictable ways if we’re willing, if we show up.Responsibilities include:- Plan weekly services for 18-29 year olds- Lead volunteers for Hospitality, Events and Promotion, Small Groups, Prayer, Worship- Oversee a budget- Discipleship & Mentoring- Lead a short term international Missions team- Plan a yearly retreat- Work with a large team of Pastors and Administrators Show less

  2010: the Church needed to start a middle school ministry for preteens in grades 4 to 7, and asked me to lead it! So off I went with the belief I could help people, deep into the world of preteen antics and creative teaching strategies. I got to put into practice lessons I learned from the last 5+ years of working with young people - what an up-and-down ride! I was reminded time and time again of how important it is to help youth (and their parents) develop a foundation of faith in Christ and make good decisions, not forgetting the fun and friendships they need along the way.   I was asked to join the team at Church on the Queensway as a Youth Ministry Intern way back in ’05 while working with Youth for Christ in Listowel, Ontario. This move from small-town Ontario to urban life was followed by 5 years of learning to follow and implement a vision, work in a team and with volunteers, plan weekly events which cared for the spiritual and social needs of dozens of teenagers - all while finishing studies in Theology and learning to be a husband and friend to my wife, Leah.
