Reporting to the President, CEO and Chairman of Avery Dennison, responsible for $880 million (post-divestiture of European filing business) global business with industry leading brands and leadership share positions in all three of the largest businesses. Full responsibility for the strategic leadership of all functions of the worldwide business including supply chain, operations, sales, marketing, customer marketing, research and development, finance, information technology and human resources. Consistently delivered best in class operating margins (21%) as the corporation’s “manage for cash” business, but convinced the CEO in late 2009 to pursue a new strategy of growth through innovation. During the 2009-2012 period, drove a complete transformation of the OCP business, effectively defended our flagship labels business against a large, determined competitor and reached agreement to sell the OCP business to 3M. Following the aborted sale of the business to 3M in 2012, re-started the sales process and motivated the leadership team through a new round of management presentations and due diligence meetings resulting in the sale of the business to CCL Industries effective July 1, 2013.• Drove both the organizational and cultural change required to achieve a complete transformation of the business from a manage for cash strategy to a growth through innovation strategy. Strong execution of the new strategy resulted in 2011 new product revenue of $27 million (+50%) and a new product pipeline valued at $143 million. • Created the most exciting new product news in the industry, the “Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery” line in early 2012. This 294 SKU product line was created and commercialized in just twelve months.• Demonstrated strategic agility in 2011 by delivering dramatic new product growth and successfully defending the global labels business while also leading the process of selling the business.
