      Tim Barnes has worked at SHIFTSPACE since 2010. Tim oversees both the creative direction and technical design of the studio’s work. While at SHIFTSPACE he has: overseen the design of major placemaking and urban improvement projects at 30th Street Station, Urban Outfitters HQ, the National Parks Service; designed, coordinated fabrication, and provided visual direction for the SHIFT brand; and provided architectural design for various private residences. Selected works include: a mass-produced modular parklet system; a fold-up green roof tile product; a temporary structure for GrowNYC / TDBank in Union Square, NYC; a national standard planter for Shake Shack; and concepts for Ligne Roset. Tim was also an integral participant in Bloomberg Philanthropies FastFWD Accelerator. Tim holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Tyler School of Art, where he was the recipient of the AIA Henry Adams Certificate of Merit. Prior to working at SHIFTSPACE, Tim worked at various Philadelphia-based architecture firms, honing his technical, spatial, and representational skills. Tim’s architectural background informs his work at SHIFTSPACE, providing the technical foundation to work at scales large and small.Tim has a passion for using design to re-imagine stagnant urban elements. Tim’s proficiency across the mediums of architecture, industrial design, and the visual arts allows him bring immediate and lasting solutions to the urban environment. Show less
