During the spring 2019, JELD-WEN has been collaborating with three BDE Students from Aarhus University as part of their LOOP 6 project. The problem statement was defined by JELD-WEN and was related to how JELD-WEN could gain market share within a specific product area. The problem took point of departure in a product idea, which the students were to explore and conceptualize, as well as how JELD-WEN could strengthen their relationship with a very important customer segment, the craftsmen. Throughout the process the students showed great drive and enthusiasm supported by a deep technical knowledge needed to conceptualize the product idea. Even some significant setbacks along the way didn’t stop the students from keep moving forward. This was also one of the reasons to a very comprehensive qualitative approach where many interviews had to be conducted, both inside and outside JELD-WEN. Combined with quantitative methods, the students obtained very valuable market insights, useful for their recommendations. The findings were presented at JELD-WEN, and were met with very positive feedback. The findings were both informative and inspirational and included some useful insights into how JELD-WEN can gain market shares. The ideas presented were very hands-on, which will make an implementation fast and easy. The results are of great value to JELD-WEN and fits perfectly with the current direction. The students achieved the highest possible grade, which is fully deserved.
