I had the pleasure of studying alongside Andrew in graduate school. He was a diligent and intelligent student, well regarded by both professors and fellow students. On multiple occasions he provided keen insights that pushed all of his colleagues, many of them senior executives, to consider alternative options or viewpoints. His views on corporate strategy in particular were striking for their boldness and rigor. In addition, he brought a much needed degree of levity into the classroom.

There are three important things you should know about Andrew if you are going to work with him. 1) Andrew thinks strategically. Really strategically. You know those people who have mastered chess because they have imagined all 42,000 possible scenarios of the next move and the next move after that? That's what Andrew does in a business setting. I've seen him do it with marketing at Blue Point, with starting his own retail business, and in running his own mini real estate empire in San Diego. 2) Andrew thinks creatively. He doesn't just go with his gut instinct or what worked the last time. He entertains options. He looks for new sources of inspiration and once he's then imagined how the different scenarios play out (see the first point above), then he makes his move. 3) Andrew is innately curious and is always trying new things. As far as I am concerned, this may be one of his greatest strengths. He seems to enjoy drinking from the firehose of new technologies constantly cropping up. But he doesn't stop at the "wow, that's cool" stage. He goes and tries new things. He's the first person I ever knew who attended a Google SEO bootcamp and he taught me the finer points of Twitter. This is a guy who doesn't just think, he does. So, if you're looking for a strategic, creative, curious doer with whom to collaborate, I'd say Andrew is your guy.
