At Avular, I am part of the Autonomy team, in which we create the building blocks for the robots of the future. Within the team, I quickly took a leading role in designing the architecture of the systems we are developing. Besides programming the code, I am also in contact with the other teams within Avular to make sure everything will work together nicely. This provides me plenty of learning opportunities in developing my skills towards becoming an experienced system architect. Autonomous Systems Engineer

May 2019 - May 2022
At AIIM, I worked on different projects related to autonomous vehicles and robots. My main tasks consisted of software integration and architecture, sensor integration and calibration, and general system and software development to develop and maintain our autonomous vehicles. Additionally, I was tasked with preparing and giving demonstrations at events or for (potential) customers. I also was involved in making sure we could work efficiently in the Agile system, while making sure every stage of development is reviewed, documented, and tested, to reduce the build-up of technical debt. As part of my graduation project for my master Automotive Technology, I participated in the development of the autonomous racing car of University Racing Eindhoven. My task was to design a track detection system that is capable of detecting the track over which the vehicle will have to drive. This track is defined by colored cones, which are detected using LiDAR and camera sensors. Additionally, I developed my own Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithm to map the detected cones into a map of the track. Show less

Through Unipartners, I started to work at NXP. After my internship, I also performed a project there where I created a functional prototype for estimating the size of packages using a single camera setup. Within this project, I designed and built a prototype myself, designed a camera calibration routine, and worked with different types of lighting to get the best result possible. For my master's internship, I went to Versailles, France to work on the AUTOPILOT project. This is a European project aiming to develop an autonomous vehicle with the help of the Internet of Things (IoT). Here I implemented a lane detection algorithm developed at the TU/e. The challenges here were to correctly calibrate the camera and algorithm parameters and to test and verify the implementation. As a working student in the Test Engineering department of Vehicle Networking, I had multiple responsibilities to support the test engineering team. My main task was developing tools to provide a better overview of the project progress and to help analysis of possible problems. When it was necessary, I also helped to perform some analog tests on IC chips to help detect problems.
