  Echoing Green is a social innovation fund that acts as a catalyst for change. They spot emerging leaders early in their careers and invest in their success. Echoing Green helps Fellows achieve their vision by providing seed-funding, leadership development, hands-on support, and networking opportunities – during their Fellowship and beyond. As Senior Associate, my core responsibilities included: • Managed a $6.2 million budget and provided seed funding to support and empower ~75 diverse social entrepreneurs as they designed, iterated and launched ventures focused on racial equity and social justice in the U.S., Africa, Asia, and Latin America • Co-led the development of a leadership curriculum, in partnership with the Fellowship and Measurement & Evaluation team, focused on building the leadership skills of emerging social entrepreneurs • Supported the highly-detailed search and selection process for Echoing Green’s Fellowship program, playing an integral role in the judging/review process of over 2,000 applications selecting 30 Fellows yearly. • Co-lead a multi-year, $2.1 mil fundraising strategy to support Echoing Green’s continued investment in racial justice issues. • Maintained and built relationships with key stakeholders in the philanthropic and social justice sector Show less

  In 2014, President Barack Obama launched My Brother’s Keeper Challenge to address persistent opportunity gaps facing boys and young men of color and to ensure all youth can reach their full potential. My core responsibilities included: • In partnership with the White House, I managed follow-up communications with the 2,000+ Community Allies and the nearly 200 My Brother’s Keeper Community Challenge Acceptors. • Served as lead support for the Brother’s Keeper Challenge Acceptors as they hosted local action summits, implemented local policy reviews and launched successful local action plans. • Identified, pitched and effectively executed social innovation strategies, to CSR partners, that aligned with My Brothers Keepers priorities and social impact goals • On May 4, 2015, the My Brothers Keeper Alliance(now an initiative of The Obama Foundation) was launched.   In 2012, the teen pregnancy prevention rates in West and Southwest Philadelphia were nearly double the national rate. This initiative was funded and supported by the Center for Disease Control. I served as a lead liaison with the Center for Disease Control and other National program partner organizations.   No matter how good adults are at empathizing, they should not make decisions for young people without involving young people in planning and direction of programs. Through this program, I managed a Youth Leadership team, which comprised over 50 youth, as they developed and advised programming in West and Southwest Philadelphia.
