The Kamenir Health Advocacy Fellowship is available to one USC law student to work full time with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) to help provide free legal services in an interdisciplinary fashion by working with lawyers and doctors in a medical setting. NLSLA's Medical-Legal Community Partnership Division offers both medical and law students an enhanced understanding of socio-economic factors that impact wellness in disadvantaged and impoverished neighborhoods. I have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of cases and substantive issues that come through the medical clinic. I have developed a number of different legal skills and practices including interviewing clients, participating in case reviews, obtaining evidence and arranging records, writing briefs/legal memoranda, and conducting community education presentations.
