USPS, the world's largest postal system, grapples with combating counterfeit shipping label fraud, costing over $400 million annually. Fraudsters create fake labels to evade shipping fees, causing substantial revenue loss and requiring significant manpower to detect and remove such packages. Our solution, developed from interdisciplinary collaboration and agile methodologies over a 10-week period, employs Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Machine Learning to extract data from labels, allowing cross-referencing with USPS databases to detect stolen/falsified information and identify visual discrepancies indicating fraudulence. Our research and prototype pave the way for widespread automated fraud detection. Show less
