After having successfully launched PropertyEU’s business events unit, it became its own company. I’m now fully responsible for the business and its team. We have created a completely new website offering better visibility of the content created at the events and new features such as personalized e-mailing, SoLoMo and Gamification are integrated or upcoming. We are convinced that IT tools are essential to our actual and future wealth. Regular Design Thinking sessions as well as Nextsensing meetings and Leadership Circles are helping us to establish our path and maintain our advantages. From February to June 2016 I followed a special Executive Education programme about Leadership at IE Business School to better understand company processes and dynamics across different departments, learning how to lead it and its staff successfully into the future. PropertyEU is a specialized publisher producing magazines, yearbooks, special reports, newsletters and alerts for the pan-European Real Estate industry. I was instrumental in building up the business events unit from scratch, starting with 18 events in the first year. I created an online platform for the business with online registering and a database with video clips, editorial reports and presentations of the events, all searchable by keyword. This resource has helped maintain the engagement of our attendees and speakers. The business has grown quickly and today offers 50 events per year across Europe, the US and Asia. Show less

I built up and led a sales team of four and developed a marketing strategy to position its products on the market. The flagship publication was redesigned and completely restructured to attract a wider customer base. A new website and newsletter service was introduced to better serve clients. Special attention was given to readability on mobile devices. Integrated into the structure was a series of Breakfast Meetings which took place mainly in London. These events were basically networking events with a moderated panel discussion where the latest news and trends were discussed. Sponsorship packages for participants of the panel sold well and were an important factor of the annual turnover which was under my responsibility. The revenue grew by a significant 40% and I left the company after 3 years to move on. Show less

    • Marketing & Sales Director
      • Jan 2009 - Jan 2010

This move was born out of curiosity and was my first role in renewable energy. I liked the sector and the idea of the founders to enable the public to participate in their projects, which mainly comprised biogas instalments and solar panel parks / installations on rooftops (private & commercial). Individuals could become investors and acquire a share per project in the cooperative. My job was to create a strategy for getting this to market and to create the sales material. It required a lot of research and we quickly figured out that an efficient way to move forward was to directly approach townships at their regular meetings with citizens and carry out presentations there. At the end a big solar park would be an asset for the town and its citizens and we wanted them to get involved. After having defined the strategy and created the presentations, communication and sales materials the services were launched and went into action. Very quickly a large number of investors and projects came together and the first rooftops were covered with solar panels, followed by the first parks and biogas installations. Show less

      • Dec 2004 - Jul 2008

This was definitely a very exciting time of my life! I entered a completely unknown sector which was Real Estate and the insights I gained and how I made my way was just fantastic. The company ran magazines, year books and special reports for the local and pan-European real estate industry. My job was sales and I was quickly promoted to head a team of sales managers and guide them through the processes in order to become successful account managers. I also worked on the marketing strategy, building up new websites and databases for the yearbook which was a (online and print) directory of Italian real estate professionals. They could connect with each other and exchange messages or share news and this became a very acclaimed and useful platform. The yearly turnover was under my responsibility and new ideas were born and introduced in direct collaboration with the CEO. The flat hierarchical structures aided speed from idea to decision to realized product. New initiatives included the Wine & Real Estate Business Club, informal networking meetings of Real Estate leaders with wine presentations, il Ballo del Matone - the first Italian real estate awards in the Milan stock index building which attracted more than 600 people. The yearly turnover was quadrupled and the company was sold successfully in 2008. Needless to say, I still miss these days of pure success, working at an incredible pace. Show less

    • Co-Founder
      • Mar 1998 - May 2004

When I arrived in Italy it was the dot com era, and start-ups were born every day. I was co-founder of Bond srl which was a full service communication / advertising agency. We quickly gained a portfolio of mid-sized clients which helped us to finance our latest idea - a city search engine. We started to create portal sites for the main shopping streets in Milan and the key point of each portal was a big street map where commercial activities were inserted by category. We quickly expanded from 0 to 150 clients who reserved micro-websites within our portals, and the need for a big database and the creation of a backend was born. The result was a search engine which permitted users to search local commercial activities by keyword and view them on a city map which you could zoom in to and move around. Coming from the traditional print business we also created printed City Maps and offered them for free together with a discount shopping card at various strategic points in the city centre. This became very successful and was an exciting time and lesson for us. I eventually sold my shares after 4 years and moved on. Show less
