I run daily news meetings to help determine which reporter/photogs. are going to which story. I also help them find contacts and things they need to produce a successful story. I also take calls and emails on potential stories while organizing those stories in a planner to efficiently accomplish those stories. I wrote news and sports stories for WACH FOX 57's website, which also goes to our mobile app. I used press releases and other information provided to keep people in the Midlands informed about what's going on in the community. I also helped maintain the station's Facebook and Twitter accounts to get information on news stories out to the public even faster, with up-to-date, and most importantly, correct information. Many police and sheriff's agencies use Twitter and Facebook to provide information on cases and updates to other cases for the public's use. I also am skilled with pushing out information with mobile push notifications so people who follow our station via the app know in real time what's going on in their community. I'm also very knowledgeable in working with people in these agencies to get information and make sure the public knows what's going on their community in a timely manner. I also helped in creating an award winning sports commercial for our sports team at WACH FOX News. I worked as an actor in the commercial to grab viewer's attention on our local high school sports coverage. Show less

    • Sports Reporter
      • Aug 2013 - Oct 2015

My sports beat was high school sports here in the Midlands. I told stories and covered sports that may not get the attention that other sports get. I also told the stories people may not have known about at a certain school. I covered everything from football and basketball to cross country and tennis. I was also on the Jim Hudson High School Sports Report on 92.1 The Palm here in Columbia, SC. Along with Tyler Cupp and Cardinal-Newman Head Football Coach Brannon Tidwell, we recaped Friday night's football games and talked about the games coming up. Show less

    • Reporter, Anchor, Photographer, and Producer
      • Jan 2013 - May 2013

In the Senior Semester program in the School of Journalism at USC, I helped put on a daily show at four o' clock, five days a week. Everyday I had a different position where I learned to craft my skills at every position in a newsroom. I reported stories, I shot stories and anchored as well. As the Sports Anchor, I frequently went out and shot my own material of teams across the Midlands for my sportscast. Sports is a big passion of mine and I believe this passion is what helps me succeed as a sports reporter. The biggest thing Senior Semester has taught me is how to shoot, edit and write my own packages under deadline pressure. It has also refined and sharpened my reporting, anchoring and photography skills. However, the most important thing it has done is further teaching me how to work in a newsroom and as a team. As a freelance photographer, I shot and edited one to two games every night for the high school football show put on every Friday night at WIS News. I also shot other stories besides sports when needed. While interning at WIS News 10, I helped with the news content department, writing stories for the daily newscasts.
