Thomas is a thoughtful priest and counselor who brings a deep understanding of spirituality to his ministry. He is an excellent team player and can lead with clarity when necessary. His skill in preaching, liturgical planning, and organization made him a valuable asset in the planning and execution of worship. Finally, he was a good adviser to me who did not hesitate to give me solid, honest feedback.

Resource-sized broad church parish in suburban Washington, DC area. 1,200 members; 13 paid staff; $900,000+ budget. Responsible for pastoral care, worship/liturgy, and hospitality. • I was called to All Saints’ during the interim period to be a stabilizing component during the transition between the interim rector and a settled rector being called. • Sermons were delivered using a conversational, informal style. Parishioners consistently complimented the style and content of my sermons. • All Saints had five weekly worship services: 5 p.m. Saturday; 8:00 a.m. Spoken Rite 1; 10:30 a.m. traditional in the Church; 10:30 a.m. blended in the Great Hall; and a 5:30 Wednesday Healing Eucharist. Because of the scheduling of four weekend services, two of which are simultaneous, I celebrated and/or preached at two each weekend. • Served as the priest-in-charge when the interim rector left and before the new rector arrived at All Saints (December 2007 – February 2008). • Managed the day-to-day operations of All Saints’ one week a month while the rector was in Memphis, Tennessee until his wife was able to relocate to Frederick (February 2008 – July 2009). • Elected to serve as the Frederick Area Regional Council Representative of the Diocese of Maryland to Diocesan Council (August 2010 – July 2011). • Clergy representative on the worship committee. I approved the liturgies for all services at All Saints’ (December 2006 – July 2011). • Managed and scheduled the clergy rota for five weekly services at All Saints’. This includes scheduling supply clergy (January 2008 – July 2011). • Provided ongoing pastoral care to homebound parishioners and trained Eucharistic Visitors and lay chaplains. • Offered pastoral care to Trinity School of Frederick (All Saints' day school) by leading chapel services and being available to faculty, staff, and families of students. • Education for Ministry (EfM) mentor (2006 – July 2011).
