Mechanical Engineer Internship
-
Sep 2018 - Feb 2019
A 6 months internship at Sound & Bright as a Mechanical Engineer. Throughout this experience, I was responsible for the mechanical design of a new range of laser-based ultrasound systems for non-destructive testing. I operated on every aspects of the project including: - Development of new product covers using aesthetical design methods (sketching, CAD and rendering). - Mechanical design of parts. - 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor 2018. - Structural optimization of each system with the aim of reducing the overall cost, dimensions, and weight. - Project organization on a company-specific software. - Management of supplier relations, quotes and purchase orders. - Mechanical parts validation using the finite element method when required (on Autodesk Fusion 360). - Parts verifications, quality check, and final assembly. The work I have accomplished at Sound & Bright resulted in a significant reduction (40% to 50%) in the manufacturing cost of each system I worked on. Also, the number of mechanical parts has been reduced by 37%. Show less
