The state51 music group is an independent company which operates throughout the music industry. It is a collective of award-winning creatives and industry-leading technical individuals who work together to produce a ‘one-stop’ music company. My role as an operations engineer at state51 is broad and encompasses many responsibilities throughout the company. These include technical product development, testing and production, client-facing services, meetings and relationships, internal company solutions and data science metrics. Show less

"Impacts as a palaeomagnetic recording mechanism in meteorites" This PhD is focused on developing the understanding between the meteorite paleomagnetic record and impacts on young planets in the early Solar System. My thesis provides a new and unique insight into the planet-forming conditions in the Solar System, helping further the understanding of what is required to produce planets similar to our own. There is equal emphasis on an experimental approach as well as computer modelling while investigating impact-induced compaction in planetesimals. I have presented the work produced over the course of my PhD both on a national and international level and cooperatively published work with authors at Imperial College, Harvard University and the University of Oxford. The position is fully-funded by the STFC where I have been awarded a research grant totalling £164,000. I have also secured travel awards totalling £1100 which has enabled me to attend national conferences. The lead supervisor for the project is Professor Adrian Muxworthy (Imperial College); the project is co-supervised by Professor Gareth Collins (Imperial College), Dr Daniel Eakins (University of Oxford) and Professor Phil Bland (Curtin University). Hotelplan is one of the best diversified skiing and walking holidays specialists. Working in France as part of a 15-person management team, along with a total of 70 chalet staff, we successfully ran a winter holiday season for thousands of guests. Responsibilities included supplier liaison, events logistics, conflict resolution and high-budget purchasing. During my time with Hotelplan I served 12 independent "parter properties", involving public speaking and being the first point of contact for all guest issues. Customer facing and local business relationships are the core of the role, as well as highly efficient organisation in order to process paperwork, reconciliation forms and manage meetings. Show less

DiGiCo are a high-end audio manufacturer that have helped create some of the world's most successful and ground-breaking digital audio solutions. My role involved creating new FPGA-based equaliser designs to be implemented in future releases of professional digital mixing consoles and related products. The role involved the design of audio manipulating algorithms in Python and subsequent testing to demonstrate their effectiveness on FPGA chips using the hardware description language VHDL. We endeavoured to offer alternative nightlife for the students in Southampton, taking under-utilised venues from all corners of the city and explored unique design, often produced by other students at the university. The company was established in late 2015 and went on to host events for thousands of attendees over the two years of operation before terminating in Autumn 2017. We secured a significant mid-project investment from a competitive scheme run by the University of Southampton, based on the performance of the brand. Being director of a company required meticulous planning and administrative punctuality, as well as management of people, finances and general operations under the brand name. My role included critical involvement in the setup and administration of each event, as well as eventual termination and dissolution has been an invaluable insight to understanding what is required of a corporate entity, albeit on a small, but successful, scale. Over the course of a six week internship teaching maths, physics and the sciences to secondary school students between 12-18, I was taking full A-level and GCSE classes, planning lessons and developing new ideas to engage mixed ability groups to get enthusiastic over some of the most important academic subjects on offer. One of the most mentally demanding work-experiences but without a doubt one of the most rewarding, the role enabled me to develop skills in public speaking and articulation of explaining topics from first principles to in-depth understanding.
