The primary role of this position is the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion programs in HIV/AIDS, sexual health and hepatitis C, targeting the priority populations for the NSW and Sydney Local Health District HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Hepatitis C Strategies. During this time Thomas worked on outreach testing initiatives and developed training workshops for health professionals and international students. Within this role Thomas led a small team of 2.6 FTE in developing and implementing peer-based initiatives to reduce the transmission of HIV among gay and other homosexually active men. Additionally, he supported the development and implementation of large scale social marketing and community engagement campaigns.

In this role Thomas implemented peer-based programs, including workshops, training, outreach and events to increase knowledge of HIV transmission among young gay men in Sydney. He coordinated a team of volunteers and designed new health promotion initiatives.
