Works include odex piling, reinforced concrete, earthworks, temporary cofferdam works and floating bridge installation.On this project I was the head setting out engineer which included checking other engineers setting out, keeping Quality Assurance records and managing sub contractors.Lower Ferry Slipways - Dartmouth and KingswearThis exciting new project started in January 2013 which was my first in the marine environment, including sheet piling, cofferdam temporary works, concrete works and hardwood fendering. Pre-start on site, I was contributing heavily towards the preparation for the project including sourcing and ordering plant and materials and preparing site paperwork.On site I took on the site engineering and quality control roles.Reading Viaduct Enabling WorksThis was my first project to run for Dyer and Butler which included site clearance, erection of security fencing and hoarding and vegetation clearance works for Network Rail. A large portion of the contract was completed by subcontractors,so my main responsibility was communicating with the client and sub contractors to ensure the contract was completed to everyone's satisfaction.

      During my 15 month industrial placement with Dyer and Butler I worked on several civil and rail projects ranging in size from a few thousand to multi million pound projects. Some of my highlights include: Working on a 1.5km new road embankment including a large concrete culvert and underpinning of a high pressure oil pipe. Being the sole setting out engineer on a 95m cycle bridge over the River Otter and its flood plain and 500m of accosiated paths on the approaches. I was responsible for setting out cut and fill areas, kerb lines and reinforced concrete works including 16 holding down bolts to fix the two spans of the bridge to.
