The emphasis of my professional work experience is on the structural assessment and design for structures subjected to explosion hazards. This includes non-linear dynamic analyses of buildings, bridges, pressure test enclosures, and infrastructure. Damage predictions for existing structures and necessary retrofit options are completed to mitigate risk to infrastructure and personnel. Blast resistant design of new structures is performed for specific blast loads and damage criteria, or using a risk-based approach. I have managed various internal research, client and industry committee sponsored research projects, mostly in the area of reinforced and precast/prestressed concrete wall performance and model development. This has included shock tube testing, and developing and validating Visual Basic software. Additional regular work includes estimating project costs and schedules, writing formal proposals and reports, and giving presentations to clients and committees. This includes working with larger project teams, and managing projects. Show less

Research involved full-scale monotonic testing and analysis of precast and cast-in-place bridge decks. Funding was provided by TxDOT, and resulted in a new bridge deck being constructed from the findings. Multiple journal and conference publications came from the research.
