Since starting Ecomotive from a small office in Leicester in 2014 we have grown to move 45,000 cars (2022), offering both driven and transported services. We have moved to larger premises in 2016 and we have grown into a business with around 190people (including sub-contractors). Ecomotive will be expanding its interests further into related sectors over the course of 2022 and 2023. Ecomotive now has 3 separate sites and now operates multi car transported with an Operators License.

I was heavily involved in all parts of the business, including business development, existing business, client management and accounting. During my time with the company we undertook a restructure of the business and increased the turnover by 20% (having stagnated during the recession). We grew the number of drivers we use by 20% in-line with our growth and opened a new client account every 2 days on average. This role has further helped me with my management skills and given me a broad overview of a business which moves c. 40,000 vehicles per year. During my time with the business we improved the balance sheet, monitored cash flow and improved net profit by over 10% of turnover.

I worked in the editorial side of Autosport at Haymarket having completed various work experience at a number of the motoring publications. While finding this to be challenging in a different way to my other work experiences I look back on it with fond memories. In particular the role gave me the opportunity to think about how I would like to run a business if given the opportunity. It also helped me improve my attention to detail. I learned extensively about myself and my own deficiencies, as well as areas where I have strengths.
