Covid testing site operative
-
Feb 2021 - Jul 2021
During the time I worked here, I was given a very heavy workload, working 50 hours a week. Despite being pushed to work fast due to the high number of patients, I kept calm through all this and was complimented multiple times on my energy and politeness that I presented to the patients. This work proved to me that I could put everything into my job, and enjoy it by pleasing people and making new friends with colleagues. At the Covid site I worked with small children who came in for a test with their parents. I found this tough at first because the children would often cry when it was time to have the swab put up their nose and therefore I had to try and calm them down and convince them they could do it. I had to be very patient as some of the children refused to put it up their nose and got really upset. I found this aspect of the job to be really fulfilling as it always felt good when I was able to get through to the patient and see them leave with a smile on their face. Show less

Waiter/Kitchen Porter
-
Nov 2019 - Dec 2020
At Queens I worked closely with one other colleague, where we carried out various tasks together, such as putting the dishes into a dishwasher, unloading the dishwasher, drying the dishes, and cleaning the kitchen. I learned the importance of communicating with other members of staff, and how to split up heavy workloads between us to make work more efficient. My manager was impressed by my commitment and confidence, so she promoted me and asked me to work serving tables for student dinners. This required me to be presentable and well organised, as I had to interact with students and make sure they got the right meal. Show less
