Having done my honours dissertation on the diffusion of eco-innovations within traditional industries through the lens of vertical farming, I presented analysis on these findings and recommended which secondary characteristics should be focused on, when promoting and marketing their innovation, to increase the diffusion of their various products. Through further research, and working alongside the IGS team, I advised on which of the company’s environmental and sustainable credentials should be considered to be verified as well as which avenue was best in doing so. Working for a Startup allowed me to develop working on my own initiative, at being dynamic and expereince a fast paced environment.

Consulted on Pyramid Travel Product's decision to enter the European market, advising which countries they should enter first and through which avenues (retailers, wholesalers, online etc...) My team used both primary and secondary research to obtain statistics on which markets were most lucrative to enter, by gauging the competitive landscape, product laws, historical diffusion patterns of competing brands as well as carrying out a forecast on the riskiness of the market. At the end of this project we delivered a presentation on the most important findings, which I lead, as well as provided a detailed professional report of all the research and recommendations.

I undertook my second internship at Paperhole Investments (Pvt) Ltd (PHI). Being Zimbabwe’s largest commodity broker and procurer, PHI is involved in the whole commodity value chain, from seed to sale. During this internship, I worked on/with: • Accounting department on the financing of corporate farming ventures. • A discounted cash flow for a commodity storing facility. • A trading team on securing Baltic and Canadian wheat for local millers. • The analysis of a potential derivative platform in Zimbabwe. • The financing of small scale farmers. • Initiating trade protocols with Asia on the export of Avocado’s, Passion Fruit, Blueberries and Macadamia’s • The ministry of Agriculture on workshops to revive the Agriculture sector and promote exports. • ZimTrade and industry players on assessing the export viability to certain markets.

I undertook a placement over 07/17, where I worked as an intern at Paperhole Investments (PHI). The company is one of the largest commodity traders/procurers in the southern African country of Zimbabwe. I was given the opportunity to work in various parts of the enterprise: Commodity Trading and procurement; Logistics; Grower Financing; Agronomy; Fertilizer blending and Sales; Property holding and Storage. Throughout these sectors, I worked on/with: • Senior traders on the buying position of sugar beans from Zambia, the buying and selling position of winter wheat in Zimbabwe and the buying side of Baltic wheat for procurement purposes. • With a team on the procurement of commodities for the largest grain millers in the country, as well as various stock feed producers. • The transportation of commodities, whether it be by road, rail, sea or air. • Senior management on the financing of various farmers, as well as the outlook of possible corporate farming ventures. • Agronomists on ‘farm visits’, which entailed crop managements and soil sampling. • Visited various silos and grain distributors. Inspected and tested grain for purpose of purchasing hundreds of metric tonnes. • Facilitated the development of the fertilizer plant, as well as the sale of the fertilizer blends at various depots. • Reviewed all insurance policies of the various projects, to get an understanding if the premiums could be reduced under an ‘umbrella’ insurance policy covering all the different ventures. I was tasked at the beginning of the internship to produce a ‘marketable portfolio’ at the end of the month that covers the sectors/fields the company is involved in: file:///C:/Users/tdcha/Desktop/PHI/PHI%20Brochure%20PDF.pdf

Previously an associate of JP Morgan, Imara Edwards has become the leading stockbroker in Zimbabwe. The company dominates the market share and deals with both local and foreign portfolios. Having had the opportunity to conduct an internship at this highly acclaimed equity firm, I was able to get an inside picture on how crucial and fundamental wealth management is. This internship gave me the basic skills and knowledge on security trading, which has added fuel to my desire of working in this field. • Worked in a junior investment team, which strategically analysed potential companies to invest in. • Went to daily paper share sales on the ZSE • Met with clients alongside senior management, to ensure customers were satisfied and fully informed.
