Duties included: - Leading the day-to-day activities of the R2 Flight Team which includes mechanical, electrical, software, operations, thermal, system integration, safety, and softgoods disciplines and requires an understanding of these concepts. - Providing technical authority to the R2 mechanical and electrical lead designers to ensure the R2 Climbing Leg Assembly was designed to be compatible with the Extravehicular Activity (EVA) environment. - Working with the R2 Battery Backpack team on development of requirements and battery management design for a 300 cell Lithium Ion Battery. Understanding Lithium Ion batteries and the applicable requirements and testing standards is required for the development of this hardware. - Providing technical authority to the R2 designers developing the EVA Robonaut to account for the thermal, radiation, Atomic Oxygen/Ultraviolet (AO/UV) and MMOD aspects of the EVA environment.
