Based on the needs and interests identified by the individual and their support network, a variety of approaches may be employed ranging from Elder-led Indigenous teachings and ceremonies to Western self-improvement education and programming. Regardless of the approach chosen, the underlying goal always focuses on ensuring that individual successfully reintigrates back into the community while avoiding the pitfalls of relapse and recidivism.
