  the training started off with three months of training center training. were I learnt the basics of boilermaking , fabrication and development. basic welding skills stick welding (MMA) tig welding basic CO2 welding I was also exposed to the motor vehicles side of the company .I got basic exposure to fleet repairs from running basic company car maintenance to the maintenance of equipment ( generators , cranes and trailers) I was introduced to the electrical side of the company for a month were I was exposed to basic electrical components and their maintenance routines I worked on welding machines DB boards - how to test for leakage , on the 360 Volts welding sockets as well as the 220 standard sockets I was later exposed to valve assembly, hydro testing and air pressure testing . the training later prevailed to site rotations to various eskom power stations where I shadowed large bore pipe fitting supervisors for a month being involved in the day to day task execution as well as quality control paper work and liaising with welding supervisors and pipe technicians for inspections and approvals the second rotation to another eskom power station lasted for 7 weeks, on this rotation I was appointment chargehand of a pipe fitting team working on the boiler repair and refurbishment during an outage tasks during this appointment included ensuring that all the relevant documentation was in order before the execution of each task ( documents included job cards , risk assessments ,itp and inspection sheets and others ) mine was to ensure that a 7 day day look ahead of the task according to the plan was in order and well planned for i was incharge of ensuring that workers had all the tools and the correct PPE before the beginning of the work.I was tasked with ensuring that the toolbox talk was conducted everymorning before the beginning of the work Show less

  P1/P2 inservice training at mintek under the maintenance division. duties include engaging with different qualified artisans (fitter and turners ,welders/ fabricators),draughtsman. working with each one for a period of time ,learning the trade and how they carry out their day to day routines. have also gained extensive skills doing fitting ( equipment repairs, motors inspection and repairs, bearing changing,high pressure lines installation to state the least . -turning ,I have worked on numerous machining projects ,including shaft machining and clocking, and other parts ,working and machining on the lathe and vertical milling machine . also gained some experience welding using tic and oxy-acetylene.
