Experience

    • Airworthiness Engineer in Training
      • Oct 2019 - Present

Principal investigator for accidents and incidents involving Diamond Aircraft products. Continuing airworthiness and corrective action liaison for Transport Canada Civil Aviation, the Federal Aviation Administration, New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority, the European Aviation and Safety Agency, Austro Engine GmbH, and Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH. I work with regulators and OEMs to track threats to safety and assist in the creation of airworthiness directives or other corrective actions when deemed necessary. I monitor the health of the global Diamond Aircraft fleet by tracking occurrences and maintenance actions, and I evaluate potential risks of repeat occurrences. Building upon my former position, I oversee our technical publications department, and continue to author and publish technical documentation, respond to customer requests for maintenance instructions, and provide clarification where necessary. Furthermore, I coordinate with our maintenance, production, quality control, and customer support groups to ensure accurate work instructions are delivered to customers worldwide, and that corrective actions are also applied to aircraft on the production line. I also assist the engineering group with investigations or design changes which have involved the aircraft's fuel system, landing gear, avionics, and engines. Lastly, I assist the sales team by presenting new products in development to customers of Diamond Aircraft. Show less

    • Technical Writer
      • Oct 2018 - Oct 2019

Prepared and checked technical documentation such as airplane flight manuals, airplane maintenance manuals, manual temporary revisions and supplements, and service bulletins. Ensured information from the engineering group, vendors, etc. was clearly presented to customers via technical documentation. Responded to customer requests, and provided guidance to mechanics in the field in completing maintenance. Supported the certification of new products and design changes by creating new technical publications, and working with Transport Canada Civil Aviation to approve new publications. Show less

    • Airborne Research/Atmospheric in-situ and Remote Sensing Co-op Student
      • May 2016 - Aug 2017

Brought on after my third year in university, I joined the Convair 580 airborne research group at the Flight Research Laboratory at the Ottawa International Airport. I troubleshot MATLAB code used to extract data from the aircraft's data acquisition system, removing artifacts which drastically reduced processing times. I repaired broken functions of the code allowing my group to generate images of airborne particles encountered by the aircraft such as water droplets and ice crystals. Next, I created instruction manuals and reports documenting changes to the code, allowing futures users to process atmospheric, and aircraft performance data. I also created a script to generate the aircraft's flight path and display it in 3D in Google Earth. In the hangar, I assisted with assembling, installing, testing, and calibrating instruments on board the Convair. After my group discovered my affinity for proofreading, I regularly checked and edited reports and presentations to ensure they were free of spelling, grammatical, and formatting errors. Aside from work, I spent my free time learning about other projects at the lab, and NRC's influence on the aerospace industry. Thanks to my openness and "glittering social commentary," I managed to encourage other employees to pursue hobbies such as cycling and even flight training. Show less
