Project Officer: SOGIESC UnitAssociate: Communications and AdvocacyIn my role as a Project Officer for the SOGIESC Unit, I am responsible for leading the unit's research and advocacy on South African related issues, particularly through awareness campaigns and engagement with national bodies, equality courts, and with community based organisations. I offer a broad knowledge of programs, policies and implementation strategies for media advocacy campaigns. In my role as an associate with the Communications & Advocacy team, I am tasked with developing and implementing yearly advocacy thematic campaigns with various advocacy projects. My other duties include assisting with convening seminars, virtual webinars, drafting press statements and creating visual campaign material.

This internship with the Advocacy Unit was under the supervision of Mr Adebayo Okeowo. During my tenure, I participated in assisting with the creation of year long campaign focusing on African Migrants named #AfricanMigrantsMatter. I worked on advocacy projects including a documentary for the campaign. I also assisted with equality court cases with the SOGIESC Unit under the supervision of Mr Geoffrey Ogwaro.
