There are so many wonderful things about Theresa—as a colleague, journalist, and investigative reporter. We both attended NYU's American Journalism Program in 2020—she in China and I in California, and though all of our classes and collaborative reporting were done remotely, her work ethic and supportive energy were evident in every class and in each project we did. As a co-reporter, we could always count on each other to do the best that we could, and she would challenge me whenever I felt doubt or fear. I know my growth as a journalist would not have been the same if Theresa and I did not do some of the independent projects we signed on to do. In the classes we shared, she would show up fully committed, and totally engaged—whether it was pitching in Media Startups & News Innovation, encouraging a fellow student, asking intelligent and well-informed questions of our guests. But my three favorite things of Theresa were: her ability to make interviewees feel comfortable (I learned so much witnessing her interviewing skills); her inquisitiveness and determination in approaching her stories, especially the pieces we did on the Washington Square News walkout; and most of all, her tireless optimism, enthusiasm, and sense of humor—even when we were stressed and tired during the thick of mid-terms and crunch of finals. I am so grateful for her presence and friendship during the program. Theresa would be an incredible asset to any newsroom, media organization, start-up, business, or enterprise. She is an incredible thinker and a wonderful human being.
