I was also involved in the veld condition monitoring within the reserve and was responsible for setting the Klaserie up onto a Gepgraphical Information System – ArcView. This included mapping the vegetation communities, animal movement patterns, and water point distribution onto the program and running initial spatial tests to elucidate distance from water relationships.       This involved radio-tracking selected roan and Lichtenstein hartebeest herds on the Plains, and monitoring their habitat utilisation. In addition, I introduced scientists who were starting studies on the Plains to the study area. I collected field data for studies on subsurface water movement. During this period I attended rare antelope and aerial census research workshops. I presented talks on the subject of water point closure to rangers of Londolozi (1999) and at the Klaserie AGM (2000) and the KNP AGM (2000). Show less
